Since my other half is more of a writer than I am I was asking him to do the opening lines for this blog last week. I am still waiting.
The blot of this blog is going to be us to and a piece of land (2253 square metres to be exact) in a small municipality of Vesilahti. We entered the municipality's 'land lottery' last spring as suggested by my dad. We never thought we would actually 'win' a piece of land or a tontti as they call it in Finnish. Hence, we never considered us as people who would enter into a project of building their own house.
We went to see a lot of old houses (Finnish sense old, built in the 1940-1950s) on the market, we could afford to buy but not to renovate, it is kind of good that 'destiny' or whatever you may call it pushed us to consider the option of building our own house.
So join the (possibly painful possibly educational) experince of building a house in the Finnish countryside!
